Tips for the CtrlAltStudio viewer

For those of you not familiar with using the Oculus Rift in Second Life, the viewer created (lets call it a Beta as nearly all Rift affiliations are) is the “CtrlAltStudio viewer“.

I would post the link for the download directly here, but being that the UI it is not without some kinks and hurdles, I will instead direct you to some very informative info and tips on how to navigate with this viewer.

These tips, and the link to the viewer download, can be found at Virtual Amy’s blog; Using the Oculus Rift In Second Life.

The first entry…

It’s Jan 28, 2014, 3:18 am, Berlin time. (Actually it’s a day later, this was copy and pasted from my other blog site 🙂 )

This is being written so to not have an empty page on this brand new blog.
I am an east coast, N.J./N.Y. girl, living abroad in Europe, Germany in fact, due to Second Life, I’ll explain how that came to be on another day.
For now I will just say, I am thrilled at the developments of the Oculus Rift. I have been waiting over 20 years, (yes 20 years), for this development in virtual reality to sprout to the surface.
I had first joined Second Life in 2004, I pretty much have seen it very small, grow, explode, shrivel, be taunted, teased and poked at…. turn from magical to selfish, materialistic to cold. The magic is emerging again and I am heady in my anticipation.
So, I will be collecting and cataloging every place that I find amazing, magical, interesting, lag free (or low lag) here in this blog directory. Will also post information about social groups, meet ups and so forth. Also helpful hints about UI and for those interested building and coding.
As it is very late, I have not formally put together anything to present you, so I will leave off with directing you to this blog entry, Oculus Rift & Real Scale Test Area, written by Jo Yardley, creator of the 1920’s Berlin within SL.
